Mr. Barnette is a highly skilled British-American Climate Finance and Sustainability Expert who serves as a Technical Consultant at Growth Perspectives Limited (GPL). With over twenty-seven (27) years of experience in management consultancy, Mr. Barnette has worked for top firms in North America, South America, Europe, the UK, the Middle East, and the Caribbean, specializing in the following practice areas: Finance, Technology, Operations, Strategic Sourcing, and Sustainability.
The Chair of a session at the UN’s COP 27 that considered sustainability from a Caribbean and Africa perspective, Mr. Barnette is well known in the global climate finance and sustainability spaces. He is the Head of Product Development at Parâmetro in São Paulo – Brazil and a former Director of Sustainable Economic Growth at the Climate Resilience Execution Agency for Dominica (CREAD) – an organization geared toward creating the world’s first climate resilient community. In the latter role, Mr. Barnette partnered with a UK-based reinsurer as well as a Caribbean-based technology firm to design the first retail parametric insurance product to be structured in the Caribbean region. Mr. Barnette is also a former Program Director at Atos in New York and London, a former Program Director at Capita Consulting in the UK, a former Regional Director at Mysis Healthcare System in the Middle East, and a former Project Manager at both Ernst & Young (EY) LLP and WebMD in the USA. He has executed projects on behalf of large clients such as S&P, JLT Group, Rothschild & Co., Abbey Bank, Resolution, and the UK Government.
Mr. Barnette holds an MBA degree from Duke University in the USA, as well as a BA degree in Music History and English Literature from Baylor University, USA. He participated in an Executive Education Course in ‘Climate Change: Economics and Governance’ at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
