Dr Dagbanja is currently a Technical Consultant in Growth Perspectives Limited’s Strategy Practice and a Senior Lecturer in Law at The University of Western Australia. An Attorney-at-Law who has lived and worked in Africa, North America, the UK and Australasia, Dr Dagbanja is also a highly skilled and well sought after Consultant and Academic whose work aims to shape government policy and the direction of markets. In recent times, he has engaged with, for instance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Australia and Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs as Guest Speaker and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, Switzerland, as Consultant on international investment agreements, investment dispute settlement and public health.

Dr Dagbanja previously served as, e.g., a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at The University of Manchester in the UK, a Research Fellow at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Auckland Law School, a Law Lecturer at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), a Research/Legal Assistant at the American Bar Association and a law firm in Washington DC, USA, and a Legal Practitioner in the private and public sectors in his home country – Ghana.

Dr Dagbanja has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and books mainly in the areas of procurement law, corporate and commercial law, international investment law and investment disputes settlement. Dr Dagbanja authored The Investment Treaty Regime and Public Interest Regulation in Africa (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2022), the first of its kind on Africa in Oxford University Press’ International Economic Law Series. Dr Dagbanja is a recipient of the UNCTAD and Society of International Economic Law Award for Research on Investment and Development as well as The University of Western Australia Law School Excellence in Teaching Award.

Dr Dagbanja holds a PhD degree in Law from The University of Auckland (UoA), New Zealand – where he held a UoA Doctoral Scholarship and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in the UK. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching from The University of Western Australia as well as LLM degrees from The George Washington University, DC, and University of the Pacific, California. Finally, Dr Dagbanja holds a LLB degree (Second Class Hons.) and a BA degree (First Class Hons.) in Sociology and Linguistics from University of Ghana.

Dr Dagbanja stands ready to help governments and multilateral organizations design appropriate investment policy frameworks that attractive foreign direct investment and facilitate innovation, economic diversification and socio-economic development in the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa and elsewhere. He is also available to assist firms seeking to internationalize by developing strategies that, among other things, enable them to optimize on existing and international investment and trade treaties.
